Urban Plates has just landed in West Los Angeles. Why is this a big deal? Because with a few different concepts pushing gourmet cafeteria style food on the population of LA in the past few years Urban Plates blows them out of the water. Local, organic, grass feed. All terms you will see floating around Urban Plates if you bother to read the signs or talk to the employees. The newest location of this boutique chain is located in the Runway Playa Vista off the 405.
Urban Plates has a straightforward concept. Salad bar, sandwiches, plates, soups/stews, pizzas, and then dessert. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. Sandwiches with a side are 10 (without steak) plates are 11- 12 with two sides. With options like turkey meatloaf, and grilled tuna there's plenty of options for a picky family. I suggest the steak and the turkey meatloaf. The staff says that this location is slow compared to their OC and SD branches but its going to pick up traffic wise soon. I suggest you try it before the line is out the door.
